The historic town of Orchha, nestled on the banks of river Betwa, was founded in the 16th century by the Bundela Rajput Chief, Rudra Pratap. Here, the river Betwa splits into seven channels, also called the Satdhara. Legend goes that this is in honour of the seven erstwhile Chiefs of Orchha. The splendour of the intricate statues is one of the reasons that makes it a popular site to visit among tourists. One of the most stunning UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India.
Local sightseeing visit Temples. The entire monuments in the area lies in divided into Eastern, Western and Southern part of the complex. With difference in architecture and style the temples of these three complexes differ from each other lot. While the western group of temples is the most popular temple complexes in Khajuraho, the eastern group are also abound with some very popular and important temples. About one kilometer east of the western group lies the Khajur Sagar and the old village of Khajuraho. The eastern group of temples is located around this lake and village. Jain temples dominate the temples in this cluster.

Another attraction of the town is a religious village which is also known as Dakshin Kashi, housing innumerable temples of Lord Shiva. Take a tour of the Narmada Ghat in the evening.
