Pachmarhi gets its name from Hindi words ‘Pach’ (five) and ‘Marhi’ (caves). The history of Pachmarhi dates back to the Mahabharata era. Legend has it that the Pandavas excavated these 5 caves for their shelter when they were passing through Pachmarhi during their fourteen years of exile.
